Roblox username generator — names that are actually free

Why every name on this page works

Most Roblox username generators are word-salad machines. They glue two words together, sprinkle a number, hand you a list of 24 strings, and leave you to discover one at a time in Roblox signup which of them are actually still free. By the time you find one, you've spent twenty minutes guessing and your second-favourite name got claimed by someone else in another browser tab.

This generator works differently. Every name on this grid was checked against Roblox's availability API by a server-side pool builder when it entered the pool. Names that came back taken got dropped. Names that came back moderation-flagged got dropped. Names that survived — the ones you see on the cards above — are real candidates you can type straight into Roblox signup without getting kicked back to the form.

The five sub-chips above each pull a different slice of the pool. Aesthetic leans lowercase, vowel-friendly, preppy/coquette/Y2K-coded — the names that look like they belong on a Pinterest moodboard. Cool hunts pronounceable seven-character names with fantasy phonotactics — the closest free-namespace ceiling to a real 4-letter OG handle. Edgy runs a curated leet-substituted wordlist of demon/void/soul/ghost/raven roots with substitutions pre-validated against Roblox username rules. Tryhard targets the Da Hood / Blade Ball / Bedwars sweat audience with ghxst-style letter swaps on combat and predator roots. OG produces clean 5-6 char dictionary-feel handles for buyers who want the 2008 aesthetic without the leetspeak.

Behind the scenes the moderation is unfussy but strict. 3-20 characters. A-Z, a-z, 0-9, single underscore not at the edges. No moderated substrings (Roblox blocks profanity, slurs, and recognised full names). No collision with what Roblox internally treats as the same handle — case is folded server-side, so Robruh and robruh count as the same name and only the first claimer wins.

What you cannot get from any generator, ours included, is the namespace that was already claimed. 3-letter names are extinct — Roblox enforces a 4-character floor on new signups and the ~17,500 historical 3-letter strings are all on accounts that may never come back. 4-letter pronounceable names have been gone since the early 2010s. If every name you actually want turns out to be 7+ characters, that's not a flaw in the generator — that's because the short namespace has been claimed for over a decade and Roblox does not recycle inactive handles. We sell aged accounts with those short names already attached, with the join date and inventory included — that's the only path to a real 3- or 4-letter handle today.

How to change your Roblox username

If you already have a Roblox account and want to switch to a new name, you can — but it's not free. Roblox charges 1,000 Robux per username change. At the current bulk rate that's roughly $12.50 USD, paid in Robux you've either bought directly or earned through Premium and DevEx. Your old username stays reserved to you for the life of the account, so nobody else can grab it the second you swap.

To change the name: open Roblox.com in a browser, sign in, click the gear icon, choose Settings, and on the Account Info tab look for the pencil next to your username. You'll be prompted to enter the new name, confirm your password, and pay the 1,000-Robux fee. A few rules of thumb. You can change your name as many times as you can afford to. Past usernames appear on your profile under Previous Usernames for a year unless you have Premium. Group ranks, friends, inventory, Robux balance, and game progress all carry over untouched.
